Learn SQL for Database Programming

Perl Programming and SQL Database Training for Beginners or Intermediate Students

In this course, students will learn basic database creation and manipulation, as well as how to search databases and how to incorporate them into Perl-based programs and applications.

Upon completion of the course, students will earn 4 CEUs (Continuing Education Units) and a CEU letter from the University of Illinois Office of Continuing Education. This course counts toward both the Open Source Programming Certificate series and the Web Programming Certificate series.

From beginning to end, participants will learn by doing their own SQL-based projects using Perl. These projects, as well as the final project, will add to the student's portfolio and will contribute to certificate completion. Besides a browser and internet connection, all software is provided online by the O'Reilly School of Technology.

Course Details and Syllabus Course: Learn SQL for Database Programming Tuition: $318.4 Time Frame: Due to our monthly lab fee system, this course is completely self-paced. You can expect to work approximately 40 hours on this course. Technical Requirements: As long as you have a web browser and internet connection, you can take this course from anywhere in the world. Software: The web-based Learning Sandbox® provided for you will contain all your lessons, projects, quizzes, account files, editors, and programming tools necessary to build your skills from beginning to end, even beyond coursework. In addition, you'll be provided with a mySQL account that can be accessed through the Sandbox or, if you prefer, any normal SSH program. No other software is needed. Instructor: You will have one instructor throughout the course who will evaluate your projects and quizzes, hand them back for improvement when necessary, and coach you throughout your skills advancement. However, within a few weeks of enrolling, you'll receive the free ebook SQL in a Nutshell, Third Edition as a complimentary reference from O'Reilly.
