Python 1: Beginning Python
Python Programming for the Beginning or Intermediate Student
Python is a popular interpreted programming language used by many large companies - Google, O'Reilly, YouTube, Yahoo, CERN and NASA to name a few. Python is fast and has numerous libraries and modules you can use to accomplish just about anything.
In this course, students will learn the basics of programming with Python. Using the Ellipse™ integrated learning environment, students learn about expressions, variables, conditionals, loops, lists, sets, dicts, functions, objects and exceptions. By the end of the course, students are ready to build and work on entire programs written in Python. Besides a browser and internet connection, all software is provided online by the O'Reilly School of Technology.
Upon completion of the course, students will earn 4 CEUs (Continuing Education Units) and a CEU letter from the University of Illinois Office of Continuing Education. This is the first course in the upcoming Python Programming Certificate series.
