Perl 2: Intermediate Perl
Perl Programming for the Intermediate Student
For the student who has taken our popular Perl 1 course, or who has equivalent experience, we present this course to take you to the next level in your Perl career.
In this course, we build upon the foundation established in Perl 1 so that you can create practical programs that interact with the user and the operating system: reading and writing files and directories, for instance. We'll teach you how to perform useful and important tasks without even writing programs, by calling Perl from the command line with brief "one-liners." We introduce the powerful technology of regular expressions for matching and changing text, and expand your repertoire of Perl operators, functions, and looping constructs.
Upon completion of the course, students will earn 4 CEUs (Continuing Education Units) and a CEU letter from the University of Illinois Office of Continuing Education. This is the second course in the upcoming Perl Programming Certificate series.
